Enhanced Cleaning Routine – Covid-19

Providing safe and clean cottages has always been one of our highest priorities at Trethawle Barns, but with the arrival of Covid-19 we have further re-evaluated our cleaning procedures to keep our guests and staff safe.

Our cleaners will not work if they have symptoms of COVID-19. They will:

  • Wear masks as it’s possible that they are contagious but not experiencing symptoms.
  • They will wear safety glasses, shoe covers and gloves
  • They will wash their hands immediately on arrival and immediately after gloves are removed and safely disposed of.

Our Cleaning Protocols:

  • Check in will be an hour later (4pm not 3pm) and check out will be an hour earlier (9am not 10am) to enable the enhanced cleaning schedule to take place
  • All areas will first be cleaned with warm soapy water and then disinfected to kill viruses, bacteria, and germs.
  • All doors and windows will be opened to allow fresh air to circulate throughout the property during the entire cleaning process.
  • Disposable paper towels and machine-washable reusable cloths will be used. Reusable cloths will be washed on a 60°C setting.
  • All bed linens will continue to be laundered professionally on a 60°C setting. Towels, bathmats and tea towels will still be washed in-house but again on a 60°C setting.
  • Washing machines and Dishwashers will be run on empty on a high temperature setting just before guests arrive.
  • All crockery, cutlery, glasses etc will be re-washed on a high temperature programme just before guests arrive.
  • All throws and cushions will be replaced before new guests arrive
  • When cleaning particular attention will be paid to furniture, door handles, appliances, light/lamp switches, keys, hairdryers, plugs / cables, TV remote controls, condiments, games, books, travel cots, and highchairs
  • All mattresses will be vacuumed and turned
  • Mattress and pillow protectors will be changed after each guest.

Please note – guests may prefer to bring their own towels, bathmats, tea towels and pillows.
